Well with the Subaru Justy being traded in for a new 500 Abarth I needed a new daily drive. I wanted quirky, practical, cheap, and ideally reliable and as it happens rust-proof.

I saw this and couldn't resist. Currently has a 1275 motor, but it might get swapped for a 998 turbo, it says 998 on the log book.

Its a Sabre Sprint, full GRP shell with mini front subframe and rear radius arms on coilovers.

It starts and runs, but the carb is way out of tune, the throttle only opens the butterfly half way too.

Slick interior.

Lots of room in the back for the kiddies. It's a mini seat under there somewherei

So they've taken a mini and tried to turn it into a plastic mark 3 escort??

It would not be an exageration tosay that everyone who see it says the same, Mk3 Escort shrunk in the wash etc. But imagine it with 150bhp!

haha nick, that's the beauty of it, no rust.

Not sure what it weighs to be honest, it felt no lighter than a standard mini on the trailer. I'll get the corner weights at some point and report back.

Not sure about the Sabre.

I'd like to see pictures of the 500 Abarth though.

Wicked! Deffo get a turbo in it.

It was on pistonheads.

Most of them look like this http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C110195/ not seen another with the front end mine has.

I guess if you keep a look out you might find another for sale. Not sure how many exist.

Reminds me of a cross between a R5 & a Yugo.

Still it won't rust and with a turbo lump up front it has the potential to embarrass a lot of kiddies in there XR3i (or whatever they drive these days)
