After having my car weighed on Saturday it is in need of some major weight loss. It weighed in at a massive 640kg's! *frown*

I started stripping some parts off it today to knock some weight off. The interior is in need of some work/paint so seems like the right time to get started on it.

Soo far...Removed 8kgs from each door and still need to cut the inner skin out. Removed dash 1.8kg and top rail 1.5kg. I have a fibreglass dash on its way to replace my old one.

So im at 620.7kgs from todays work. Will add some pics when I have some worth while showing. *laughing*

THe top rail is structural. Not wise to remove!

as Vegard sais really, however the bottom rail can go if you have a cage then you can fit a dash rail, also the head lining rails and c pillar seat mounts. i would only reccomend removing these if you have a cage though.

Indeed I do! Lol

Head lining and all that gubbins has already gone. Seat belt mounts and rear pockets will be going along with the inner guttering, front part of rear seat and possibly a few other parts.

There's a whole load of weight to remove if you chip all that tar/sound deadening from the floor.

Thats not a bad idea, I recon alot more could be taken out of that too. Would it be possible to replace the rod change with an ally rod or would it just bend?

I'm actually thinking of an inanimate carbon rod for the gear stick.

I got it weighed at Scruffy's when I had my suspension done.

Yeah ive got polycarb windows already, I think a beam conversion is looking more and more likely to get it to a decent weight!

You could drill your pedals, i took it for a spin afterwards and you could really tell the difference, much faster!

Remember you can only lighten the selector if it's mounted internally.

You can lighten the pedals much more than that.

Some ideas here. http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.p...tid=194557&fr=0
