So thinking of going to Combe at the end of the month.

I did a search on Track day prep but nothing came up, what do you pro's sugest as good prep before you go?

I have a skid lid with the sticker on the back does it have to be a full face?

What prep do you do before you go. I have a standard style road car not a race machine.

I have a sound meter and a stupid rc40 large exit single box exhaust, I know its going to be tight on the noise(I didn't know it was large bore when I ordered it over the phone) I have put a noise reducer in the end but I might swap it out for a twin box its a long way to go to fail the noise test.

So what's everyone's advice?

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

As long as everything on the car is in good order then you have no worries. Check brake pads have plenty left, check there is plenty fluid in there, check tyre pressures.

Also make sure it is quiet, Combe are very very tight on noise, I went last year and failed and that was it, had to load up and watch for a few hours, not much fun.

If you do not have a centre oil pick up and drive the car hard just watch out for oil starvation, Combe has some very long right handers(camp and quarry).

Just enjoy yourself.

And maybe see you there!!

Don't work, take it from me!

Nothing beats experience and getting tips from seasoned drivers.

You will find helpfull people on circuit to advise you, maybe even take a passenger ride.

Treat Avon rise and Quarry with Respect.

Trust me, only total eejits do that stuff.

If I am there I'll go passeger with you and show you lines and braking points.

On these days there is a drivers brief and you are show turn in and braking points etc. They do put out cones showing braking zones and apexes etc.

GO FOR IT!

Apparently that's what happens if you spend too much time drag racing.

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

I went once before, seriously all your concerns and nerves about it will dissapear by the end of the first lap.

I had some hairy monents entering the first corner but once you get the feel of it all you can nail it.

I had a hard time keeping up with some other standard cars (was in a bogo 1275 n/a myself) and thought i was on the limit of what I could do, once i'd passed the pack of the 3 i completely left them for dead as I started to find my own braking points and lines.

Best thing to do is take it easy for a few laps, perhaps following someone with good lines etc and you'll get used to it!!

Get there early and walk or cycle the track with someone experienced explaining the circuit really does help.
I'm not the best driver and getting old, JF showing me the circuit really did help.

Anything goes really buddy. As long as its a proper helmet and not a pushbike or canoeing helmet it will be fine.
