Not in everyones taste having a metro build on TM, but any opinions & advice are welcome. :)
Cut a long story short, this is my first project I want to actually finish. Owned the car 2 years now. Started all by going to a MG race at Snetterton to practice photography for a F1 race in Monza. After owning a Metro Turbo back in the early 90's thought it would be fun to watch, and needless to say bought the car on impulse.
Did my ARDS, had my first & only race debut at Castle Combe last year which a few of you attended. :)
Since then, taken engine out due to oil pump failure & done nowt to since.
So starting this thread will hopefully get me to get off my arse and get the old girl going again.
Build comes in 2 parts......rebuild car & build a shed to put it in! It will be slow going but hopefully worth it. :)

Problably the cheapest sport to get into. Regulations are tight so abit cheaper for those who want to start. I'm not that experienced on it, but some people have said grass track & hot rods etc are spiralling out of control with costs.

my dad had a metro turbo, we sold silly cheap & are full of regret! the metro in austin & rover guise is a brilliant handling, better than alot of cars,

i pissed over a civic in a town thrash a few years ago, standard car with boost up at 10 psi, was a bit hot after though lol

metro turbo on here defo ok with me, i'd have another, as yours is a racer!!! phhhheeeeww bet it go's well!

Needs some TLC to be honest on the body work. I shall be at MITP or MG racing on the Sunday in August for that very purpose.

Also did you have a starting problem or was it purely a knacker oil pump?

Cracked oil pump casing. Luckily mini13 noticed it. The starting problem, I shall just put my spare starter on and rewire it.

I think Mettys look great, especially when lowered on the Ronal wheels. I'd love to buy one to fit the Janspeed motor in.

Yep. Bought the other type pump with the steel cover. Should do the trick.

Get stuck in - you know once you get into it, it will come together quickly.

As for the shed, speek to some cladding suppliers - the new sheets are usually delivered with un-finished/ coated sheeting for packaging purposes - you may be able to get some on the cheap.

I miss my Metro that I had back in the 90's. It was very much inspired by seeing in the MG Challenge up a Knockhill. Would still love ot race them but being based in Glasgow means a long travel every race meet.

Yep, I know...the floor. I rent, so a permanent concrete floor is out of the question. Got lots of pallets from work made from 3x3 timber.

Pulled the head out I had done months ago for abit of a clean. Just need gaskets, clutch cover to begin rebuild.



Popped to my mates to order some tyres for the metro support vehicle.......and got side tracked!
