If it helps I'm planning on running a harness bar on the main hoop (I picked up so addition bar from Merlin a while back) but then I'm planning on mounting my hoop slightly further back like Lee McNair's Miglia. i saqw lee mcnairs car last week end at brands, it looks like his main hoop is in about the same position as mine but the hoop brace has got a lot more of a bend in it.

Did you build the entire cage yourself, or is part of it a kit ?

Don't envy you trying to get fully welded joints in the boot Andy, looks a little 'tight'!

So are you going to cut the roof off or the bottom few inches of the main hoops to weld over the top?

From what I remember harness straps shouldn't be more than 10-15 degrees from horizontal for the reasons Stevieturbo has said.

I've seen 45 degrees quoted many times before as Jay2 says. Maybe one of the harness manufacturers will tell us the truth?

The instructions that came with my willans harnesses say between horizontal and -20 degrees. However the blue book says +/- 10 degrees desirable and up to -45 degrees is acceptable. Edited by Rob H on 13th Nov, 2007. Isambard Kingdom Brunel said:

If fitting a cage, it would be silly not to mount them horizontal on a bar though.
