Found this on the web, an alloy reproduction of the factory crossflow heads used on the 1968 LeMans sprite and the 69 and 70 12-hour Sebring and 24 hour Daytona Sprites (obviously would fit a Mini to). This is what (Roger Williams) the guy who reproduces these head had to say:

'The heads come ready for standard Sprite valves and valve train components. I can also supply a cam for the head as well. Because the valves are placed in the head in a different order you will need a cam too. The heads are $1800 and the unfinished cams are $150. I can supply a finished cam for $275. It has been changed a bit to improve flow. You will not find another head that flows better. I do not sell intakes or exhaust. Most of my buyers want very specific things in that realm.'

Works out to be around £950.00 + shipping/taxes. I would be interested to know how this compares with the Elder/Arden/weslake/minisport 7 port examples.

very odd desgin on the inlets very diffrent from the Arden 8 port and the minisport 7 port. mite be alittle tricky to make an inlet that would fit under standard bonnet. webbers would be a tight fit.

You historyless ignorant Mini-people. Webers will never fit without a bulge. They used Tecalemit or Lucas FI on this on Minis.

The inlets are however FAR superior to the Arden design though.

trust me, Vegard is most probably 100% right on this matter, as he has an uncanny nack of nowing everything you never really needed to now about old minis

Warwick.

will be due to the straighter flow into the cylinders which allow it to flow so well, with out having to go around a radius theres going to be little difference in speed
and at that price a absolute peach!

This fits:

The Ultimate A Series Configuration.

The picture opposite was submitted recently. It is of a Works spec Weslake 8 port / Injection set up as used on a lot of the Works and Works supported Racers towards the late 60's. This one is completely finished and will be out and about again before too long.

There were 4 versions of this Weslake head, these changes broke down as follows,

MK1 - As it came, ported etc

MK2 - As MK1, but with dry deck water outlet. Link pipe from block to head.

MK3 - As MK2, but with dry deck water outlet utilising Auxiliary radiator on OS inner wing.

MK4 - As MK3, but with extra piping to the head. Special tubing used, tapping in 3 places. (as per OBL 45F - Tour de France). - Over-heating problems finally sorted.

Taken from here:

http://mk1-performance-conversions.co.uk/m...ssic_tuning.htm

And don't you know it, what have I got:

THAT is a nice bit of kit!

I assume that £950 is for a bare casting though, whic would make it cheaper than the arden or 7 port, although you would still need specialist bits unlike the 7 port.

I'm sure it's the alloy block with the 4 intakes coming off it. You can see the throttle linkages going across the front of the block to the injection metering pump and the throttle block. I've think seen the same setup on a DVF Cosworth engine?

Here a pic of the chambers, I would be interested to know the standard cc, and also how much the chambers can be open up. I’m dropping Roger Williams a mail today to request some more info and pics.

do you know what plugs the head takes?

they look line normal ones rather than the 10 mm bike type.

Here’s another shot of the head in situ, although I would have preferred a shot from the other side of the engine compartment. Check out those throttle bodies!

One of the car

In response to some question:

MikeRace, Roger doesn’t sell intakes or exhaust manifolds, as most of his buyers want very specific things in that realm. I would also imagine the ‘original’ manifolds be very difficult to find!

joeybaby83, Yes, standard rocker will fit.

mini13, £950.00 includes the head and finished cam. You would have to add approximately $50.00 shipping, although the total price will depend on the exchange rate at the time of purchase. The plugs used in this head are ‘standard’ A Series.

Oh yes, chambers are 24cc
