thanks for this John, you can see why the heads seem to run so cool looking at the water ways. Team www.sheepspeed.com Racing

the casting is different to the 1100 ones only i nthat it is a new casting tool - probably changed for the 1200 intorduction. The 1200 heads have the cast in bump for the vertical oil feed to the heads - but not the drilling, on these engines the oil is fed into the cam gallery via the chain cover - slightly odd if you ask me! also the 1200 has extra fixings on the head for the chain cover - with respect to keeping it in contact to ensure pressure isn't lost - ref oil feed hole!!! this doesn't alter the conversion parts in any way.

Spock - I have to admit the head "looked" good to me - but it didn't have any valves etc so in the big saw it went.

JK would cost more to fit it out with valves, cheaper to get another complete jobbie. I'll let you off budy. I knew you would have a good reason, even if it was just the cost of reearch and development Yeh, fire the pictures over whenever On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:

You could get the whole deck of the head welded and then skim it flat again, youd only need 1 or 2 mm, oh and some one who can do a decent weld, and lots of it On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:

what about using motor bike pistons, they have the valve cut outs and have a shorter gudgen pin to crown height, i've seem them used in a historic rally car with good results. |

Jimster, what i meant was, adding an extra 2mm to the deck, rather than just dry decking
