to be honest i've spoken to a few people before and they all seem to say that you cant get much more power out of a MPI with out dumping the injection.

its for my dad, his engine runs so nice and its v low mileage so wants to keep the mpi really. he doesnt want it to be ultra quick, just a bit quicker than it is now. thanks for the reply though. anyone else have mpi tuning experience? |

To my mind it's never going to be a power monster as they don't rev due to the method used for injection.

Roger / Turbo Shed - have either of you owned and tuned an mpi? Not being rude but if not then these posts are just hearsay that i've found on every forum to do with minis.

Dev, I understand what your saying and agree with you 100%. I have never owned one but have done engine work for a good friend. When we were done we had 87BHP and a really nice flat and solid torque curve .... just the sort of thing you want for back lane overtacking. To be fair I love that car and if she ever sells it (not likely!!!!) I would make sure it was to me!!!

Nitrous in ok but limited range for usage and insurance can be a real problem.

welshdan, I'd not think it necessary to put SC drops in and the best of the verto clutches will do just fine.

18.3 isn't much off where i'd expect that to be tbh. If you get that down to a 17.4 you should be pretty pleased with yourself. I'm assuming it's still in full road trim with 13"s and not stripped at all?

thanks for the replies. was just thinking along the cam changing lines as he is going to change the clutch soon and he can swap a cam in a few hours whilst the engine is out. and as for the rockers, they can be changes with the engine in the car obviously. he was just wondering about the cam just to give it a bit more bite and as it doesnt take too long... |

why would you take the engine out to change the clutch?

cos with all the gubbins in the bay its easier to take it out for the first change and after that if you leave the 7 o'clock bolt out they can easily be done in car.

we ususally change clutches with the engine in, with the one side jacked up. but as it would be halfway out anyway... |

you can buy a replacement ecu from emerald which is totallty re-mappable, im sure vmaxx scart uses it on their mpi supercharged conversions which take the bhp to around 145ish and the ecu still uses the origional sensors on the engine! |

VMAXX Scart use a 'wet' manifold on their supercharger kits.
