When I saw this thread I weighed a standard crank at 10.25Kg and my race crank at 8.25Kg. thats quite a difference.
I seriously doubt it! |

so according to morespeed a wedge and knifedge will remove 4kgs, or nearly 9 lbs, or in other words over a 1/3rd of the weight of a standard crank,

I don't think so... But you can think that if it helps you sleep at night.

I just measured my bowl head last night, and it was 31cc. A LOT of material has been removed. So, getting a 29cc head done with decent chambers must be a nightmare. On 13th Jul, 2012 Ben H said:

35 cc is quite possible and it still resembles the weslake chamber shape. But the chamber is DEEP. |

Yes. You'll need shims under the pedestals, and the short turn radius in the valve throat would be even worse than standard. I guess it's better to get some dished pistons if going to these extremes. Especially now as this kind of pistons are readily available. Valve shrouding would be bigger as well. Agree Jukka?
